The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company (PVFC) is a non-profit organization that has proudly served the community of Petersburg, WV, and its surrounding areas since its establishment in 1938. Our mission is to provide essential Fire and Rescue services to those in need, and we are proud to do so with an entirely volunteer-based membership.

Our dedicated team consists of individuals trained in a wide range of specialties, including Firefighters, Paramedics, EMTs, Divers, Water Rescue Personnel, and Engineer/Pump Operators, along with a host of other fire-related certifications and skills.

For over 85 years, PVFC has stood as a vital part of the community, driven by a shared commitment to protecting lives and property. Our volunteers continue to serve with professionalism, teamwork, and a deep sense of responsibility to those we protect.
OUR SERVICES
FIRE SUPPRESSION
Our team is extensively trained to handle a variety of fire emergencies, including structure fires, brush fires, wildland fires, and vehicle fires. Suppression operations are supported by multiple engines and a tanker to ensure an effective response.
VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
PVFC members are equipped with both basic and advanced extrication skills, including specialized training for farm rescue situations. We are ready to respond to a wide range of vehicle accidents with precision and care.
SWIFTWATER RESCUE
Our swiftwater rescue operations are supported by trained personnel and equipment, including Boat 400, a flat-bottom boat, and kayaks. We have the capability to respond to water-based emergencies efficiently and safely.
DIVE TEAM
PVFC has specially trained divers who are prepared for various scenarios, including rescue operations in water environments. Our team is equipped to handle challenging situations, ensuring the safety of those in need.
TECHNICAL RESCUE
Our department includes certified Rope Rescue Technicians and confined space technicians, capable of performing complex rescue operations. Additionally, we maintain a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), ensuring we are always ready to provide support during high-risk incidents and firefighter emergencies.
